Chapter 2

“Oh, shit,” Cynthia mumbled. “Real Life Freya is doing another one of her lame romance stories. I’ll bet she’s even going to submit it to Literotica in the ‘Romance’ category. Or even worse, under the ‘Erotic Couplings’ category.”

“You know, ‘Erotic Couplings’ is the most popular category on Literotica,” Katie pointed out.

“It’s where stories get dumped that aren’t interesting enough for any of the other real categories,” Cynthia complained. “I can’t believe that she really thinks readers care about love and flowers and candlelight dinners and all of that crap.”

“Oh, don’t be like that,” Katie chided her. “I think it’s sweet.”

“You would,” Cynthia retorted contemptuously. “The fact is, in reality, everyone reading these smutty stories online just wants a story about sex. They want a spank tale that’s just long enough and hot enough to get off on with no extra flowery shit thrown in. After they get their jollies, they can finish the last couple of sentences that lamely wrap up whatever flimsy plot was shoehorned in between the sex scenes, and then they can put their phones on their nightstands and fall asleep with smiles on their faces...”

“When did you become so cynical?”

Cynthia raised her eyebrows. “Seriously? Right around Real Life Freya’s seventh Literotica story. It’s bad enough that she made me fat, but in that story, she made me a pig that just sits around and stuffs herself all the time.”

“That’s not true,” Katie told her. “You’re not a pig just sitting around and stuffing yourself all the time. You only do that occasionally.”

“Ha ha! Very funny. It’s a good thing that you’re awesome in bed,” Cynthia responded. “Because you’re a fuckin’ pain in the ass out of bed.”

Katie wrinkled her nose and gave Cynthia a sarcastic smirk. Then she pointed out, “But you know that in the entire story arc that Real Life Freya has planned, the fact that you like to eat ends up being super important,” Katie said.

“Everyone likes to eat. It’s not that important.”

“Okay. Then the fact that you like to stuff your big fat face ends up being super important.” Katie placed her hands on her hips. “Is that better?”

“Yeah. It’s super important that I’m a fat pig. I’m a hero. Blah, blah, blah. But that’s not until the fourth or fifth series or something,” Cynthia complained. “Real Life Freya has just barely started the third series! And in the meantime, the only thing readers know is that I’m a fatass that can’t stop stuffing my fat fucking face.”

“What happened to ‘pleasantly plump’ and all of that?” Katie asked.

“Lies!” Cynthia proclaimed crossly. “She,” spitting out the pronoun in anger, “just writes that shit in so readers think that I’m okay with being a lardass.”

“Whatever,” Katie said just to end the argument. An argument that had been ongoing between the two girls for decades, long before they had become lovers. “Anyway, there’s not a whole lot that we can do about it, right? We’re just characters in Real Life Freya’s writing.”
