I will be motivated to write a review only when I really like a story and want to give the author encouragement or help attract more readers to a story. If I can't say something good about a story I won't review it.
As a reader my tastes are wide ranging. Generally I like a story with good character and plot development and a story where there is a moral thread. I hate stories where all the characters are amoral.
While I generally prefer heterosexual stories, I can occasionally enjoy a gay or lesbian story if it involves domination.
Although I would never approve of such a thing in real life I can enjoy stories involving sexual activities with children if they are well written and involve an adult trying to do the right thing for a child.
I am an author on SOL myself and tend to write fantasies about future societies with themes often involving sex slavery, forced sex or sexual humiliation.
