About Markw:
Interests across the board although under age, masochistic and extreme violence are not story lines I would read by choice.
Stories should have an appeal and 'readability' without being either too far fetched or 'stilted'. The former is an accepted method of story-telling however the author should know when he or she goes too far and tries to stretch the imagination too far. The latter should never happen - spelling, basic grammar and simply using the wrong words (He dropped put the the book on the table and continued to sip drink his coffee.)
Above all a story should compel the reader to want more - don't give too much away in a chapter, always leave them asking 'What's next?' without being either too obvious or 'over the top'.
Above all, accept criticism where it is given without malice - nine times out of ten it has been given because an improvement can be made to a story making it much more enjoyable and readable with little effort on the part of the author.
To the reader - don't criticise for the sake of it - remember that not everyone is as perfect as you are :)
