Halloween Writing Contest 2025
A Midwestern student follows his childhood passion for whales to New Bedford College, home to a world-renowned marine biology program. There he meets Desdemona Sewall, a pale, mysterious woman descended from some of New England’s most infamous figures—Sarah Good, Samuel Sewall, and Lizzie Borden. Rumors claim she’s a vampire or something even stranger. Drawn to her despite the warnings, he’s pulled into a world where science and the supernatural collide.
