Like most stories, this one has some good points and some bad points.
On the negative hand, it seems a bit stilted and can be jarring. There's almost no use of slang, except for one repeated phrase I noticed. The narrator tends to jump around a bit in time, which can be a bit confusing. Due, I hope, to the short nature of this, all but one of the characters seems flat; unfortunately, that character is in a strong supporting role.
All that said, however, I rather enjoyed this story. I suppose it was just charming. I really don't have reasons I can list for liking it as much as I did, but if you want a bit of odd interracial romance, this is a good place to find it. Plus, it doesn't hurt that the main characters are good people, if a bit flat.
