Reviewed:

I read this story many years ago as it was being written, and I only recalled it recently during a review-gone-wrong about monster girls. What a time to be alive.

StarCrawler, you may be gone for now, but you are not forgotten. Five years after your last post you still, against all odds, have the top-rated erotic literature series on SOL which contains vampires but not werewolves. I hope that at some point I can edit this review to add the word "completed" to the list of descriptors for this series.

"A Halloween Redemption" is a story which involves vampires, and it's also a story about a traumatized man overcoming his past. The author manages to intertwine these two key elements such that they build on each other and form a compelling foundation for a story. Robby's traumatic past causes his life to intersect with a vampire, and this vampire helps him to come out of his shell and rejoin society; simultaneously, the vampire is also changed by Robby to become more than just the living dead.

Sex plays a role in progressing the story. The interplay between the characters and their dynamics during sex are some of the strongest indicators of how they are evolving individually as well as together. The description in sex scenes is dependent on the scene's importance to the plot, which allows the reader to spend a corresponding amount of time appreciating longer scenes. With this said, I wouldn't recommend reading this as a stroke story.

Flaws aside, StarCrawler is a writer who succeeds in getting readers to cheer for the characters. The conflict in this story is less direct than being any specific antagonist, but even when it was down to something as minor as the main character having a rough day or being lonely, I found myself wanting him to come out ahead and eagerly turning the pages to see how the situation would resolve itself. I think that while the overall plotting is interesting, this quality of being able to write likeable characters is what makes AHR such a highly-rated series.

If you're looking to read a novel interpretation on romance between man and vampire, this may be the series that you're looking for. If you're not a fan of incomplete series, I can assure prospective readers that there is no big cliffhanger at the end of part two: it stops at a comfortable resting place with no major plot points outstanding.
