The Methuselah Complex is a do-over and rags-to-riches story that follows Jacob through several lifetimes.
The core of the story is based on his first do-over. The story is witty and contains a ton of smut. Without wanting to give away too much of the plot, you see the basics of typical do-over stories including investing in the stock market/ gambling to make money and the main character gaining a lot of girlfriends/ wives.
What sets this story apart, however, is that the harem part doesn't come across as forced and is slowly introduced throughout the chapters. The money making part is also mostly summarized, which allows the story to focus on character development. To me that's a big plus.
I quite enjoyed reading the story. The plot had a few fun twists and kept me engaged so much that I kept reading it until I finished the story.
On the technical side there were a few small mistakes, but nothing major.
Overall, I'm giving it a 'great' (9) for appeal.

A note: I will never give a story a negative review. I simply will not review a story I thought was a waste of my time, maybe not your time, but my time. I will make comments about what I thought could be better. I will not lambaste a writer for putting his or herself out there and doing something I am too chicken to do, write fiction. If you want to read one of my graduate history papers, get your head examined.
THE REVIEW
It is too damned short; I heard that a lot when I was younger...No, that's not it. The story is too damned short. It is in some ways a standard doover: back to high school; sports hero; making money on remembered sports and stocks and commodities; and lots of sex with teenage girls. Did I mention lots of sex?
However, it is not a standard doover, it does fit the forms, and that is simply a framework.
What is wrong with this story is that it is only eight chapters. What is right, along with all the other things that are right, is that I started at 10 and was done early enough to get a good night's sleep.
There is more than a little something about the football hero part of this story that is completely different, you will have to read the story to find out, and it makes a difference in the hero. There is something about the harem, standard issue for doovers, that is quite different, but you will have to read the story to find out. Fantasy Lover left plenty of room for a part two and a part three and I hope he writes them and rearranges the life of the hero and presents it saying, "And now for something completely different."
After each chapter he thanks his editor, which is more than appropriate considering how well edited and proofread the story is; if there were typos I missed them.
A very enjoyable and relatively short read that I recommend.

Jake has received an unusual gift from his uncle - a power called the Methuselah Complex. He is told that on his deathbed he will be reborn again in the recent past, as a teenager who had died around the time Jake had reached puberty.
After his death he finds himself awoken as Jim, just like his uncle had told him, in 1965.
Having been forewarned, Jim has a lot of information on stocks and events for the next decade, and starts planning a better life for himself.
This includes a helluvalot of sex, and quite a few surprises!
The story is a hot, quick romp, with a lot going for it. My only complaint is that as the story progresses it gets quicker and quicker, going from a chapter covering hours, to weeks, to the rest of Jim's life... and a story that could have been developed over a longer period becomes something a lot shorter.
And hell, given how hot some of the women and their predilections are - I could have definitely read a LOT more about them. In fact, just as things heat up they're over.
Still, what's there is pretty darn good.
