This is an amazing series and it has almost everything going for it. Awesome genre, concepts, creativity and writing style. This is an excellent author who creates complex, layered plots and really loves to draw out the suspense. Some of the characters are original and very interesting as well.
Unfortunately the last half of the second part (starting from Roban losing his soul) is a bit of a letdown compared to the rest of the series as it bogged down with all of the drama, scheming and melodramatic tension/suspense. The story is a bit too dark and some of the characters are unpleasant and not very likeable. The story seemed a bit more rushed as there are more technical errors (mixing up names, grammar, improper words used, etc.) and plot holes as well.
Chaos, in particular, is a frustrating character and I couldn't imagine living with someone like that (it would be exhausting and stressful). Ahtea supposedly always put her brother first but in reality always put herself first and treated most people like crap. I hated what Roban did to Iane when he brought her sister in to torture her. He should have been able to deal with her himself if he wasn't such a stupid, passive and submissive (at least towards Ahtea) character. It bothered me a lot that he continually (with only a few exceptions) allowed his sister to bully him and didn't stand up for himself.
Overall, the series is very interesting, really draws the reader in and is better than most published novels written by professional authors.
