I have said it before and I will say it again...I am a romantic and proud of it! I get a lump in my throat when each of two lonely people find the other to be the missing part of their heart and soul. WTSman has written a series of such tales, and my favorite of that group is “Second Chance”.
In this fairly short story we meet an unnamed IT guy who handles computers for a university. Our hero is a single dad of three, having been abandoned by his wife. Katrine is a grad student whom he helps with a project.
The two of them strike up a friendship (with burgeoning romantic overtones), which moves to a new level when she needs a place to stay. He offers to rent her a room at his house which was vacated by his adult daughter.
Katrine immediately makes friends with his other daughter who is about to leave home, and helps with his young son. She becomes a valuable and integral part of the household, making things run smoother than ever before. The two eventually wake up to the fact that the other is what’s missing from their lives.
I highly recommend this story as the next one you should read, right before you read the rest of WTSman’s work.
