I'm writing this review on book two but I really consider it a review of the whole story (books 1 and 2).
As always, I'm a sucker for a romance. This one is very sweet - think Frank Downey.
Nextdoor neighbors, lifelong friends and teenage lovers are separated by tragic events at age 14. At 28, Micheal has lost his job, he's still grieving for his brother and father killed in an accident years ago, and his friend Lindie has been missing from his life since he was 14. He's about as low as he can get when he climbs into the treehouse they built as kids to remember... and of course almost magical events bring his life back to him.
It's a tear jerker and a super sweet tale of young and older love. It has tragedy, surprise, and fulfillment. I liked it a lot.
This is NOT a stroke story. There is a little sex in it but it fits completely with the plot and doesn't distract at all.
Quality of writing was quite good and I enjoyed it a lot. I think there are places where more tension could have been written into the book but that's the author's choice. I have to strongly compliment the author on ending the book where he did. It's easy to keep going and going and going and turn a story into an epic but in this case it ended at a perfect time.
