This is a charming little example of the cumming-of-age genre which seems to be fairly popular.
Technically, the story was somewhat better than average, which is to say that there weren't jarring errors that distract from reading. As for the plot, while it was somewhat predictable and had only minor conflict - most of which was rather easily resolved - the author deserves credit for backing away from some of the less enjoyable cliche elements which could have developed.
Overall, I'd recommend this story to anyone who enjoys coming-of-age romances, especially to fans of the Frank Downey style. Anyone looking for pure stroke would probably be disappointed, as would those looking for something slightly less vanilla. For most, though, this should be some nice light reading.
