Reviewed:
If you've read any of my other reviews, you've probably read about me comparing stories to nuggets of gold amongst the dross, well in this case the story is a gem! Don't get me wrong, there are errors in there, but The Girl Beneath the Skin is grammatically correct, and free of homophones.
The sting in the tail of this story though, is that it attacks prejudice head on, emphasising that stereotypical views of beauty aren't necessarily correct, as the title points out. Yes, in 78k the story is pretty much a caricature, but there are fat, plain, and damaged people in the world that have cried into their pillows at night after days of unfeeling remarks, and vicious insults, that will relate to this story all too well.
Full marks to blacknight99 for confronting these despicable attitudes head on, and producing a great story into the bargain.
Read, and enjoy!
