I don't write many short stories, this is one of my first attempts. It is said that you can get used to anything. This man has an affliction few of us would be comfortable with -- but he makes do just fine.

I recommend reading this story. The author is one of our best and you could do worse than read all of her stories. It's a fairly complex plot and I don't do well reciting all of the details, but I was satisfied with it and its resolution. It might be the introduction to a longer story, we learn a lot about the hero and some about the heroine, and not much gets fully resolved. But I voted it very good and I will be surprised if you don't agree.
The plot is complex for a short story and leaves opportunity for more. I gave it a nine, which is an A plus. The technical was without flaw as far as I could tell, but I am reluctant to give tens unless the story blows me away. The appeal was an eight, which is an A. Like many stories I would like it more if it were longer.
