When the Darjee do something, they do it so they benefit the most. For pacifistic birds, that is what you get.
So, there are in the minds of the Confederation, and the Darjee, and all the other peoples of the Universe, two types of Earthlings, Volunteers and Concubines. Volunteers have a CAP Score of 6.5 or greater, and Concubines are fourteen years old or more, and have a Score of 6.4 or less.
Mary is the narrator in this story, she is thirteen, nearly fourteen, and she and her sister, also thirteen, and their Mother, are picked up in a Denny's and with another concubine travel to another planet. All goes well with the group, I'm happy to relate, and they all are pregnant as ordered. The only hiccup that I find, is the decision by the women, that the son, Tomas, of Juanita, concubine #2, will be stopped from impregnating his mother when he turns fourteen.
According to the rules, shall we say, if he is part of the 'family' he is entitled to have sex with his mother and impregnate her. The only person to stop it is Rob, the owner of all of the women; no one else!
