Reviewed:
The best stories in the Naked In School universe use the premise to strip away more than just the characters’ clothing. Sometimes it can be the pretensions of the NIS premise itself, sometimes it’s the pretensions of a character, and sometimes it is, for good or ill, the mechanisms a character has been using to protect a secret.
In this case, it’s a secret: Aaron is gay, and being in the Program outs him.
This story gets rough, harrowing in parts, as Aaron does not have an easy coming out. If homophobic violence is a problem for you, you might want to avoid this. If you want to experience what all too many queer kids have to go through, this is prime material. (Even one would be too many, but it’s way more than that.) And if you want to watch a sweet and accepting romance develop despite adversity, this is your catnip. Seriously, the romance is great.
Well-written, with an engaging narrator, and tightly plotted. Strongly recommended with the content warning above, or unless gay male content is a squick. (Note: story is Premium, so you’ll want to support this site by getting a Premier membership so you can read it yourself.)
