As the story starts you will think that something will happen and the something WILL happen. Joe J is a man of few surprises but lots of ideas. This one is a typical harem story with one man and many women.
It deals with the mid west asia where war happens often. The description of the place shows that research has been put into it. And I think his Arabic is pretty decent too.
A very well written story which deals with difficulties faced by women in the war prone mid west and the cultural differences between the west and the east.
Stroke is pretty decent too but then again it IS a harem story and it is as good as one can expect from this great writer.
I recommend the story.

If I had a devious mind like Joe J, I'd be writing, not reviewing. This is a love story! It is also a Desert War story, it is also the coming of age (at thirty something) of our Hero, Nick Pappas.
Nick starts off life as a troubled youngster, he becomes an orphan at an early age and if it weren't for his adopted parents, he was quickly becoming an adult criminal!
To save himself, he joins the US Army, and through more strokes of luck he becomes a full time Medic, a job he really loves. When the opportunity arrives he grabs it with open arms, and ends up a Warthog Bus Driver. Over Iraq during Desert Storm he is shot down over the western desert, and ends up injured, lost and captured by the wives of an Iraqi Farmer a certain Hassan, who is a bad, bad husband and an even worse man. Having been captured he is at first kept chained up by the women, and then, seeing their plight ends up willingly helping them save the farm.
And then to make matters worse he goes completely "Native" and marries them all according to the tenets of Islamic Law.
This is another happy ending where the villain is defeated, and Altair Hassan (AKA Nick Pappas) wins the love of all his wives.
Enjoy, I did!
