In "Playing Doctor", the reader is treated to the story of a doctor that works to hard, and the artist that sweeps her off her feet. All the while, they are dodging someone hell bent on killing her.
The sex in the story was essentially focused to one scene. That one scene was very hot indeed. More sex wouldn't have worked in this story, as it wasn't long enough to really make that feasible.
The plot was very well done. Compact and to the point, the story moved with a brisk pace that kept me focused on it. I'm glad I read this all in one sitting, as waiting for chapters may have been hard to do!
Technically, there weren't any real flaws. The author stayed away from extensive medical details even though he had a doctor for a main character. This kept the story focused, and didn't allow any medical errors to distract me.
Overall, I really liked this story. If the author had made it longer (and edited out some of the graphic nature of the sex) I could easily see this sitting on a bookshelf next to other noted authors of thriller/romance stories. Wine Maker has shown a deft touch to a story, and even in a shorter tale, he makes it work.
