JiMC has, with this story, further developed his lock on the 'tortured-by-guilt-mind-controller' field. Technically, it wasn't up to the standard of as skilled a writer as the author is; characters were, at times, inconsistent. and the story contained multiple cliché elements, as well as not being terribly accurately coded. That's the down side.
Of course, JiMC is skilled in developing characters who are compelling and attention-grabbing. He also has a knack for unconventional romances. The end result is that this is still an interesting story, at least for those who enjoy the niche this story fits into.
Those looking for an overbearing wannabe dominant using mystic shortcuts to control others —as much of the mc genre involves— are going to want to look elsewhere. Those looking for flawless technique should wait until a re-edit is complete. Those looking for a good story, especially those who enjoyed either JiMC's "Lucky Tickets" stories or Xanthos Pendragon's MasterPC entry, will find this almost in that class.
