'Amanda's Choice' is the first story in A Strange Geek's Narlass series. I almost passed it by because it edged on a possible squick. I manned up and tackled it. That was the best decision I have made regarding stories on SoL.
Amanda is a foster child desperate to stay with her foster father after the death of his wife. Her father has taken to drink after the loss of his wife, and an unsympathetic social worker is considering splitting them up. Amanda's only solace is a women she has met in a park, a person who provides comfort, peace and security. The stranger is from another world and should not be emotionally entangled with Amanda, but she is. Amanda's father indulges in drink to boost his courage for a job interview, the social worker turns up with a police officer to remove Amanda, Amanda runs in search of her friend, who has said goodbye and is about to return to her own world. Desperate to protect Amanda from lightning striking the forest trees, her friend reluctantly transports Amanda to another version of Earth. Thus begins Amanda's life on Narlass and her life is taken in unexpected directions.
The plot is excellent, the characters detailed and believable. The world of Narlass as its background is revealed gave me a 'sense of wonder' that I have not experienced in a long time, and this was only the beginning of uncovering the complexities of Narlass.
The sex scenes are high quality. Mainly Ff and FF, they are an integral part of the story that help advance the plot.
Technically the story is of a high quality. A Strange Geek writes like a novelist, in fact better than many I have read recently. All the elements of an author with a firm grasp on the art of storytelling are evident. A few places where an incorrect word slips in would only be noticed by a pedant like me, but are easily passed by because the author's words draw you further along the story's path.
At the end, after Amanda makes her choice, I momentarily hesitated moving on to 'Conclave of Conspiracy'. Just for a tiny moment. I clicked it open, read the first five sentences, and was immediately drawn back into the story of Amanda again. No escape! Why let a minor unease deny me the pleasure of reading more stories by this master writer?
This, and all the stories in the Narlass universe, have been moved into my 'Best Stories' folder, and will be read again at a slower pace to fully appreciate Amanda's story and the richness of the world A Strange Geek is creating.
My rating for Appeal would be much higher if there were no limits imposed!

In "Amanda's Choice", we read about Amanda, a 14yr old girl that is having her foster home fall apart on her. Her foster mother has died, and her foster father has fallen to alcohol to keep his sanity. The system wants to take Amanda away, and she doesn't want to go. Her only solace is her time with her new friend, Sirinna, a woman she recently met in the park. But, Sirinna isn't from here, and her agenda isn't supposed to include Amanda.
Soon, Amanda finds herself on another world, a parallel universe, where things aren't what she expected. Her struggles to accept Sirinna's life as she gets caught up in a plot of epic proportions unfold are something to behold.
The sex in this story is mostly Ff or FF, but some MF. Amanda herself never has sex with a male. There is a whole lot of seduction, and enticement that goes on, as well as some Mdom and Fdom aspects. None of the punishments are rough, though the orgasm denials would be powerful psychological and physical punishments.
The sex is also very intense at times. From the first sexual encounter between Amanda and Sirinna, you feel the intensity of their desire, and the intensity of the acts. The author shows a great deal of skill at conveying the various acts, especially the sensualness of FF sex.
The plot itself is absolutely brilliant. I must say that this was one of the most interesting and intense stories I have read. To go from a foster home to another world, and be thrown into the middle of political espionage at 14yrs of age is amazing. Especially since Amanda doesn't know that it is happening, until much later.
Technically, this story is essentially flawless. I think I recall one or two tiny errors over the course of this massive tale. I honestly couldn't tell you what they were, though.
If you like stories with more subtle D/s tones, with Dominants more interested in the submissive's happiness and well-being than in dishing out punishment, you will be enthralled by the sex in this story.
If you enjoy fairly intense FF or Ff scenes, with erotic play and seduction, you will enjoy this story.
If you like stories with political intrigue, espionage, and brilliant storytelling, you will love this tale.
I now have a new story in my personal top 20, and I have a new author that I will be keeping tabs on for stories in a similar vein. I honestly cannot recommend this story high enough.
This one goes to 11.
