This is another end of civilization as we know it story. The problems, and there are numerous problems sre these:
1. Why does every end of civilization story end up with women out-numbering the men by at least 5 to 1 and then allowing the men to run the show, usually to their detriment.
2. Why does the hero end up with a bloody harem? I live in a triad and believe me, one is plenty, two is a headache that Excedrin can't cure and any more than that is masochism of the first order. It's SILLY and to tell the truth silly is just plain distracting in a story.
3. When they found Randalls' Folly they fell into the proverbial bucket of dung and came out smelling like a rose. All that electronic gear in PERFECT shape and the weapons arsenal? Get real NOT SILLY!
4. Grammer, even though we are obviously speaking "Queens English" is atrocious. Spelling is even worse and incomplete spelling is just plain neglect. Fire the proof reader/editors, they did NOT do this story justice.
Now for the good stuff. This is a well thought out story, the plot is excellent. The story stays true to the Silent Endings Universe with good vs evil. Clothing optional is always fun and absolutely no prejudices is pie in the sky wishful thinking. The characters are believable with the exception of 11 wives (I have to get over the harem thing.) The seamanship that was described seems acurate. The capabilities of the charaters is within reason. No super human things happening except for the inscrutable Orientals and that is fine.
If this story was cleaned up and resubmitted, it would get a lot higher scores.
In spite of the rants and such it's still worth reading if you can get through the glitches you'll have fun with it.
