Here's one for all you SCI-FI and Time Travel fans. Volentrin has written a unique story and gave it a surprisingly good 'finish'.
"Battlesphere" is sort of StarWars meets SG-1 with a heaping of StarTrek (Captain Kirk version) as well as Battlestar Galactica (also the older version).
What I found very unique about this author's story is that he didn't mess with a lot of details. He just 'cut to the chase' so to speak. Now for some that might just be a little annoying. But, to me, it just kept the story 'moving right along' and didn't bother with trivial things that a lot of other stories tend to get caught up in.
Mind you, those 'trivial' things can supplement a good story. But, I feel, Volentrin himself was trying something 'new' and fresh in his approach.
As far as I'm concerned he succeeded. Obviously I really enjoyed this story. Although I gave the technical quality an '8' simply because there some things that could have used a little more punch here and there. Now, not being an editor or a writer I'm not going to suggest what they are. After all, like this review, it's just my own personal opinion (or taste)
However, I can't wait for him to write a sequel to it. It definitely warrants one!
