Interesting premise and backstory, but those really have almost no impact on the plot. Pretty well written, with the usual occasional spelling or homonym errors, but nothing overly distracting.
My only negative comment is that the story really should carry the Smoking fetish tag. The protagonist smokes cigarettes, and if I had been taking notes I could have tallied up every one of them. The author may not always mention food or clothing, but he makes sure to specify how many cigs are chain-smoked at each and every occasion.
