Memoirs Of A Young Victorian Lady - Volumes 1-3, (yes, this review covers all three volumes) starts off really well. rlfj knows how to tell a story, and manages to keep the slightly cant faux-Victorian language pretty constant over all three books, without it becoming difficult to read.
Where he fell down, as far as I'm concerned anyway, was his determination to equip all his main male protagonists with ten inch cocks. What a turn off! It's like painting the Mona Lisa, and adding a big red circle in the middle! To be honest, the sex scenes were pretty erotic, but time and again monstrous cocks spoiled it for me. If rlfj had been a little more subtle, and written the story so that the reader imagined the relevant organ to be as large as s/he wanted it to be, it would have worked much better. A number of times I was tempted to click away, and read something with a little more subtlety.
The stories are very good though, and I manage to force down the bile and keep reading. They are so good, that if it hadn't been for the grotesque penises, I would have scored them 'ten' for appeal, rather than a lowly 'seven'.
If you're happy with stories about gross equipment, read and enjoy, but if, like me, you hate it, it will take fortitude to finish.
