I read this not intending to review it. I HAD to say something. While the story of conquest was drawn out, it was not explicit. A lot of folks will say "Lame" "Not Worth It." I say refine it as the tribute to a strong woman would demand.
This is more a story of love in spite of the story codes. A woman gives her only child one of the best things possible, maturity and the knowledge that he CAN do anything he wants. This isn't spoken, it's implied.
This is also a homage to a mother who gave everything, asking for no favors and demanding no sympathy.
It's different and different people will interpret this the way they wish. I find it important to say it's a tribute to a woman who stood on her own two feet.
