I know this is an old story, but as I figuratively eat the elephant that is my reading queue (one bite at a time), I encounter old ones that are worthy of note.
I don't read many stroke stories, and even less often review them. But this one is worthy of review, IMHO.
This stroke story is woven into a vignette about a wounded warrior recently returned from Viet Nam. He finds he no longer fits in at home, so he's out on the road, hitchhiking. He gets picked up by a war widow, her sister, and her son.
Something about this story struck a chord in me. All the while I'm reading it, the music app in my head is playing Alice in Chains' "The Rooster."
Technically, it's good but not great; I found a number of typos and errors.
It's a fairly short read. I recommend it.

A great read! Having grown up in the time described I felt the ring of truth in the description of attitudes and values.
The story is well written, sexy, and very easy to enjoy! Do yourself a favor and read it!
My usual complaint applies, it was too short! I want more! My next step is to see what else Gary has written and stick myself in!
