Turning up an unexpected treasure on SOL is one of my greatest pleasures. This story was posted in 2001 and deserves a review. In fact there are a series of stories that emerge from it which should all be reviewed together, which is what this will be.
If you have a real problem with bondage and discipline these are probably not the stories for you. But there is no cruelty and there is a lot of love and sex. The issue of B & D is explored in a thoughtful way, and it is all very tastefully done.
"Want Ad" starts with a very simple premise -- a muscular blue collar worker looking to make some extra money gets a job as a male stripper working lady's night at a strip club. Not much of a dancer, he comes up with a gimmick to keep his job going, and he taps into a goldmine.
After you've read "Want Ad" move on to "Palmistry," where you'll get into the heart of the series and meet Bob, our protagonist, a widower of about a year trying to find his way. His interest in B & D is introduced here and is the heart of this story. The set is nicely wrapped up in "Therapy."
The stories are very well written, the characters are interesting, and the technical quality is excellent. The only reason I'm giving it a 9 there is because I was so engrossed in reading I might well have missed any typos in there.
