Best Deal Ever is a fairly lengthy tale that is well written. I could not find any grammatical issues and enjoyed the technical aspect of the story telling. There are a lot of flash-forwards and a couple of parts of the story that sort of summarize a long portion of time that fit well in the pacing of the story because it spans over several years.
The set up is that this wealthy, knowledgeable, sensitive attorney has just won a case against a single mom of three daughters. He has taken everything from her - but if he didn't, a different attorney representing the debt collectors would have.
He is kind enough to offer a place for them to stay, and the mother expects she is going to have to put out for him. The attorney is very gracious and not demanding - treating her kids nicely and being respectful.
There is a subtext of grooming the girls for eventual marriage and breeding that is going to be the larger theme of the story. I want to prepare you for that so if that is your squick this is not the story for you even if the attorney is quite the benevolent patron. He offers to share his wealth with them and as the girls grow into mature women they develop genuine affection for him/their own lusty sexual desires.
I chose to review this story because while this is not 'my' kind of story that I would normally write, or seek out, I could not stop reading it. There was something about it that made me want to keep going to the very end - almost like a well written Steven King novel.
You do not WANT a pig to drop on Carrie, or a killer vintage automobile to do a murder spree, but you kind of get sucked into it. It's just a fantasy story, and that is the case here.
I like variety. There are a lot of stories on SOL I won't even go near because of the plot, but this one was different enough to get on my radar, and I enjoyed it.
It wasn't an orgasm-inducing thrill ride for me, so I am going to rank the appeal a little lower, but the plot was high, and the technical aspect was great.
