Natalie attends a Halloween party with Jason, her daughter's boyfriend. Jason is a very hands-on kind of guy. If not for rule eleven, this would have been my entry for the Halloween story contest. Consider this a non-canon fork from The Loyalty Gene. Time-wise, it's set between chapters eight and nine.

If you've read lichtyd's "Loyalty Gene" series, or even his "Farmer's Daughter" series, you'll enjoy this unexpected takeoff with some of the characters for Halloween.
In this short story, Natalie, who is nearly an identical twin to her daughter Stephanie, gets an opportunity to impersonate her daughter and attend a costume party with Stephanie's boyfriend, Jason.
To fully appreciate the story, it would be best to read the two "Loyalty Gene" stories first, but the story does stand on its own anyway. And it's funny, too!
You can just imagine a young mother's reaction on discovering just how much intimate interplay is going on between her daughter and the boyfriend. And how dismayed that young daughter will be once her mom lets her know that she is fully aware of the situation. 😎
So, enjoy the story, and, if you haven't read lichtyd's other stories, I'll bet you read and enjoy them, too.
