How do you review near perfection? If you’ve previously followed any Tales from the Shack, if you’ve read anything before about Needles and Delaney, if you’ve ever just glanced at any story that’s attributed to Todd_d172, you know already that you’re going to be in for a fast, fun, and fabulous read. The Milk Run is no exception.
The fact that is, the author(s) (Todd’s wife gets involved too I’ve heard) have managed to combine so much of so many fantastic characters and stories into one cohesive plot. Somehow it seems flows in perfectly natural order and spotlights each personality’s mannerisms and quirks totally without seeming contrived. That’s just how good anything from Todd is, yet this one seems even better.
I really would like to add paperbacks of all these stories into my bookshelf of favorites. I know others would too.
About the only thing I can say about The Milk Run, is the author makes writing excellent stories like this seem as easy as making a milk run. If you haven’t read this one yet, please do so. In fact, read ANY SOL story by Todd_d172. You WILL enjoy it!

I seldom read action/adventure stories on SOL anymore; most of them are formulaic and more like text versions of Superman comic books. But I read everything that comes from Todd_d172. And this story is a great example of why.
While the author claims this is a stand-alone story, you'll be missing a lot if you don't read the other Tales from the Shack stories first. And it's in no way a burden to do so.
This story is about an FBI official who's framed for murder, and manages to call for the cavalry. The cavalry comes in the form of three teenage girls. You'll have to read the story to get more than that; the previous tales in the series will give you the background.
The plot is solid and fits well with the other stories in this series.
I love the characters in this one, most especially Delaney. She's been in several other "Needles and Delaney" stories before, and this one shows her a bit more grown up, a bit more hardened (and you didn't think that was possible).
It's not a terribly long story; I was able to read it all in one sitting, though I'd probably have stayed up all night to finish it anyway. The dialogue... people use LOL too liberally, but the dialogue here literally made me laugh out loud.
Technically, it has a few problems--some punctuation issues, misuse of a homonym, a typo here and there. It's better than the other "Tales from the Shack" stories in that respect, but there's still room for improvement.
Overall, it's another great one from Todd_d172. I highly recommend it to you.
