Missing tags: Sadistic and Tear-Jerker. BDSM is really fleeting, assuming you agree non-consensual sadistic sexual and non-sexual torture and humiliation really aren't BDSM.

Poor Little Cassie makes me mad...and sad. But I can't put it down.

Mad because of some of the rug pulls and "really? again?" infuriations. (I'm looking at you Strip Club/Cabin scenes.) Also because of the traditionally SOL terrible blurb that does nothing to help motivate readers to the real story. Plumbers?

Sad because this story could be one of the greats, with a much higher score, but it stumbled in the early chapters. It took me a half dozen times to get through them because of a lack of connection to the MC. The MC has no agency or real personality in these first chapters. There is too much unsaid, where you think all the MC needs to do is talk with those around her to 'fix' the situation. Ultimately some of these get answers, or are made understandable once everyone reunites, and 'better communication' wouldn't have resolved or prevented them. But you have to live with seeming plot holes for a long time.

I have only read the first few chapters of Madison by this author so far, and clearly the votes there are better even though many of the same tags are being used (snuff, rape, etc), so I expect it isn't the subject matter exclusively that causes the vote score disparity, but the first few chapters making it hard for the reader to connect with the MC here versus the one in Madison.

The story tries to ride the line between farcical and realistic, but clearly goes over the line frequently. The bad guys are so over the top bad and evil it is off-putting at times. Literally every guy but one is, at the very least, a situation rapist and sadist, and usually way worse. And the race play! Big Black Boogeyman is just too explicitly used for my personal taste. Allusion wouldn't have broken my suspension of disbelief quite as badly.

So much rape. Two-thirds of the sex scenes are really only arousing for sadists, causing heartbreak for the readers who aren't. And I understand this is the author's story, just fair-warning. But the other third are very arousing. The girl-girl stuff is very sweetly done.

But! The writing is great, and the story really flows and has a decent enough pace...it does get repetitive a bit at times (food guys), but part of that is reading it in one lump versus reading it at the typical weekly serial pace, so I don't count that too much against the story. Some of it may be a ploy by the author to identify with the repetitive brain washing of the MC, and leveraging Stockholm Syndrome to affect the reader. It really is truly hard to put down once you get going. The wild imagination of the author, while sick and twisted, really is apparent.

And you do end up falling in love with the MC, and rooting for her, once she starts showing some relatable reactions and agency to her situations. Will she and her friends survive? Her sassiness and charm, her caring and protecting nature to the collection of people she draws to her are what kept me hooked. This story is sort of like the anti-story for the MC of Pookie's Melissa's Secrets. Instead of FOMO being the worst thing Melissa had to deal with in an otherwise positive introduction to her sluttiness, Cassie's introduction to her own hypersexuality is via rape and trafficking.

This story really will make you feel all the feels, is well written technically (maybe a typo per chapter), and really grabs you by the nuts once it gets going. Give it another try if you see if pop up in the Updated Stories section and already gave it a pass.
