Here comes 'Davis,' another short tale from one of our favorite authors Just Plain Bob.
The story opens with Corporal Davis reporting to his commanding officer. To discuss why his wife Marline and child were left off his enlistment papers? As the story develops, we discover the child was not his. A childhood disease, mumps, had caused him to become sterile, so he ran away and enlisted in the army to blend in with the troops in uniform. His wife finds him, so she gets an allotment while he is in the service. After his stint in the military, Davis travels from Ypsilanti, Michigan, to Aurora, Colorado, thirteen hundred miles from Marline. Ann Marie did talk him into a friend-with-benefits arrangement. Sex is great, but he keeps running away every time anyone gets pregnant, failing to commit when babies come into the picture until Ann Marie.
This story 'Davis' is cute with a happy family ending, well worth spending thirty minutes reading—another memorable story from Just Plain Bob.
