Read this story! Read all of the "Banadin" stories. You are really lucky it is posted back on SOL, its been gone for a long time.
Don't call him Rick or Ricky or rickety. He is Rich and Hard and it is a perfect name for the guy. He won't have a girlfriend for a while, so he could be Richard Jacksoff. He is in Ohio for now.
I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, so I share some of his background, and we were both born in 1944.
There a dozen or more novels in the series, if you haven't read them you have a lot to look forward to. He is a movie star, a golf star and an inventor and lives a life most of us would be glad to live, and since we can't, reading about it gives us pleasure.
It's all true. Except for a lie or two. It's fiction. But really good fiction. It is all tens, well maybe the Appeal is an eleven.

Richard (Ricky or Rick) Jackson's story starts in 1957 with a 14 year old's summer plans. Or lack there of. So he pitches the idea of hitchhiking from Ohio to the Pacific Ocean to his parents. Surprisingly, they say go ahead. (Having gone through WW2, they have a slightly different outlook on what is O.K.)
You have to read the story to see what happens. It's a great read that deserves its 8+ rating.
