On the surface, this is a story of “girl meets boy, boy meets different girl, girls meet each other, drama results.” But this story is not quite that simple. This is also a story of bondage; masters and slaves, dominants and submissives, and breaking bonds both physical and mental. If this were a fairy tale the boy would meet the girls, he’d tie them up, they’d play some “scenes,” and everyone would live happily ever after.
But the characters in a fairy tale are usually all pretty one-dimensional. Real life isn’t that simple, as each of us actually have many dimensions. Some things we wear right on our sleeves, while others are buried so deeply in our psyches we might not recognize them ourselves. All of us have our own histories, our own back stories, our own wants and desires, and our own hopes for the future. The complex characters in this story all have them too.
Playing games as a dominant or a submissive is more than just telling someone what to do, or doing what someone tells you. It’s more than playing with restraints or pushing physically boundaries. It’s pushing mental buttons so that each player gets the best benefits from the games being played. Sure, you can play with ropes or handcuffs, dress up or undress, or even whips and chains. But it’s most effective when you play with minds.
“Bound & Free” plays with each characters’ mind, even as they play with themselves while revealing their own diverse backgrounds, personalities, insecurities, and comforts. Some may find the author’s decent into the recesses of their idle thoughts, deep-set fears, and relationship frustrations to be excessively wordy, yet it is the characters’ mental gymnastics that drive the plot, the action, and (since this is SOL) the sexual tension and ultimate resolution.
We’ve all ben told the mind is the ultimate erogenous zone. The author certainly explores that zone in each of his characters! If you like psychological drama, domination or submission, detailed character development, and some fun sex scenes, then this story is for you!
