I think I have said it before... I don't think D.T. Iverson has written a bad story. This is yet another great little tale and well worth the quick read.
The setting is a Marine Research Lab in the Florida Keys. He is living on his yacht and working at the Lab in educating the schoolchildren visiting. He is in his 30s and separated from his wife. He's waiting for a divorce after her weekend of infidelity - something he is adamant is to be seen as a betrayal of trust.
She is a wonderful Marine scientist with a great body matched with an awesome brain.
Buster, Buster is the nondescript browndog whose parents were adventurous so his pedigree is anybody's guess.
Into the mix comes the former wife who has tracked him down after 7 months of not knowing where he was. Even though she is a bright smart lawyer, she thinks she is still married to him and he should have forgotten her little tryst by now, she had.
Along the way, all our players come to some realisations about their lives and who they should be partnered with.
As usual, the guy is the last to work things out but he does eventually get onto the same page.
This is a short tale but fun and romantic too, just how I like them. Have a read, I think you will enjoy it.
Plot: great little tale, 8. Technical: no problems, all read nicely to me. 9. Appeal: very much enjoyed it. Sure it is light but that shouldn't detract from it. 9.
PS: Thanks to an avid D.T. Iverson reader I now know of at least 3 Easter Eggs spotted through the tale. I won't tell you what they are but will give you three clues; Travis McGee tied up here, Rick said this in Casablanca and there is a very small homage to Star Wars.
Please let me know if you spot them.
