Reviewed:
I love the "Random story from the archives" section here on the SOL Home Page, because it points out stories that I might enjoy reading if I had previously missed their initial publishing.
'Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree' by 'D.T. Iverson' is a perfect example of how useful that can be when you're looking for something good to read.
This story is about a young American boy who becomes a US Army Air Force bomber pilot near the end of WW 2. After being shot down over France, he meets a group of young French girls who are hiding from the Naziss (they're Jewish).
The story is a great read. It's well-written and the characters who are supposed to be appealing truly are. As in any good stories, there are problems and conflicts that must be dealt with by the protagonist.
In my reviews, I generally don't go much into plot points; the intent is to bring a well-written, interesting story to the attention of the SOL community in case they missed it earlier.
'Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree' is exactly the type of story that deserves that attention. Hope you enjoy it.
