Reviewed:
I looked at what was new and saw this story pop up. Such a score. Surely it can't be right. Very few get to be as high as that.
I was wrong. It is worth every bit of that score and more.
I keep thinking back on the tale and wondering if there was a way to award bonus points for the excitement, for the feeling of being there, of tasting the food, of the smells you could smell.
Only a good author can bring you feelings like that. Only a few are good enough to do that. This tale had me locked in and I travelled all those dusty miles across Turkey and Afghanistan and those other forgettable hellholes of the Middle East.
I could sense the rough dwellings that they stayed in. The smiles of the rough men they brushed up against. The punishment that was delivered. Sigh.
So, back to work on this Review.
The Plot was so nicely paced, you never felt jarred by a shift in circumstances. It fitted together. It was one of the few stories that felt whole.
Technical. I have edited stories for many authors over the years. If something is out of place it will jump at me like a neon sign. Nothing jarred me like that. It was a whole tale well put together.
Appeal. Oh yeah. Action and adventure and romance and danger. What could be more appealing than that? Add in the vastly different worlds that were brought together and you just marvel at the audacity of the author to dare to mix such extremes. It worked.
The High score? Every point of it has been earned honestly. This is a very good tale and worthy of your time to read and enjoy.
