I was recently asked why I had not done any reviews lately. Well, as we all know, life happens. When Covid-19 hit and the lockdowns started, my employer placed a hold on a certain product which I specialized in, reducing my income substantially. As a result, I had to either change jobs or do something to cover at least part of the lost income. I opted to get a second job, and have been working an average of 70-80 hours per week since. Needless to say, not a whole lot of free time left after that, but the email I got made me realize that I should at least post from time to time. I had read this story originally after it first came out. I opted not to review it yet at that point only because it was quite obviously only the first part of a longer story, and I wanted to wait until at least the second part was out. I am happy to see that the second part is now complete.
This story is a fantasy. It has elves and ogres, along with humans. It has magic and adventure, love and heartbreak. It has the coming of age story as well as betrayal. In short, other than not ending yet, it has just about everything you would want in a story, other than perhaps the cliffhanger at the end. As such, it gets an A+ (9) for plot so far. Why not a 10? Simply because I don't have a clue what will happen in the second book.
For technical score, it gets a solid, outstanding 10. I found probably only a dozen small mistakes throughout the entire work.
For personal appeal, another A+ (9). I would like to rank it a 10, but I think I already mentioned that I haven't read the next part yet. With my current schedule, it may be the holidays before I am able to. Once I can read the sequel(s), I reserve the right to change the plot and appeal scores.
