This is a revised version of my original review and has been posted following a reader finding a typo! That is unacceptable in a review written by and editor.

When I peruse the 'New Stories' section of SOL, there are certain authors who's names fill me with delight, should they have provided us with a new tale. One of these is The Heartbreak Kid. Why he chose this nom de plume I do not know but it matters not.
Mr. Kid's stories are always well written, with good plots and credible characters. They are about people who could be real, doing things that we could all do. It is easy to identify with them and to sink into the story.
'At Your Service Ma'am' is a delightful book, with one very sad event but generally uplifting and restoring one's faith in human nature.
No, I'm not going to spoil the plot for you. Get on and read it, enjoy what happens, be happy and wait, slightly impatiently for his next book. That is what I am doing!
Thank you Mr. Kid.
