This essay reflects what was happening back when the United States was very open and terrorist blew things up over there not in our own backyard. We had two oceans separating us from those crazy people in third world countries.
Jay Cantrell speaks from his heart. He list three events that affected him: April 20, 1999, the date of the Columbine Massacre. The second is Sept. 11th 2001, a day that the world I thought I knew became a horrible fantasy. The third is a day in May 2003, the day my oldest sister died unexpectedly.
The second caused the greatest change in our world today coming on it’s twentieth anniversary. Gone are the days of hopping on an airplane without any security, now you have to almost get strip searched just to get on the plane. Seventeen Years Ago: a Personal Essay, reflects the changes that world shaking day brought about in his life. As we reach the fateful day let us reflect on our abilities to overcome any adversity and stay United in a common goal.
