I was saddened when I heard that Xalir had passed; he wrote some great stuff, and I was always hoping to see something new posted. His work is intense, detailed, descriptive and gripping. I’m singling out ‘The Party’, which has been a favourite of mine for quite a while, but I also love ‘Third Time’s the Charm’, ‘Trading Up’ and ‘Dreamweaver’ (and a big nod to ‘WriterMick’ here for completing it). (I’m not quite as keen on the ‘My Journey’ series; they’re a little too full-on anguish and BDSM for my taste, although they’re still pretty good stories if you can keep track of who’s who.)
The author’s own summary of ‘The Party’ describes the plot very well; Adam Dean discovers that the reason his boss is encouraging him to work 80-hour weeks is to ensure that he’s too tired to attend the Friday night parties at which his nymphomaniac wife Jennie is the ‘guest of honor’. The remainder of the story deals with how Adam copes with all his male friends and work colleagues having had more sex with his wife than he has. It’s an extremely well crafted tale, no noticeable major errors, and the visceral heart-rending despair of the situation Adam finds himself in comes through clearly. I really felt for the poor bastard as almost everybody he knew betrayed him; just two great friends saved his sanity. It’s a tense and emotional drama, and it gets me every time I re-read it.
Yes, parts of it are a little far-fetched and over-complicated; you’ll need to suspend your credulity that such a secret, with so many people knowing it, could indeed have remained hidden for quite so long. But the narration cracks along at a good pace, and the bad guys eventually get their come-uppance satisfactorily.
If you haven’t yet tried Xalir, please do so. They’re not any of them happy stories, they are long and often upsetting, and you may well despair at how Xalir’s heroes suffer such disloyalty from the women who should respect them. But I think you’ll like the way that – always after travelling a very rocky road – each hero ends up in a better place.

This is an interesting one to review, 'The Party' by 'Xalir'.
What happens when you show up unexpectedly at a party that is in reality, a gang bang for your wife?
The plot gets very interesting from there, with the gang bangers being friends, coworkers and even owner's, not to mention police involvement. What's a hard working guy supposed to do? Just slave away for a promised promotion.
The story is very entertaining having sex and repercussions of infidelity worth reading.
