Awakenings is a mind control story where Tahir, the main character, is a good man who just wants to be left alone. When it turns out that is not an option, he makes the best of the situation.
Although I enjoyed the plot, it was very fast paced, even rushed at times. I think more build up would have been better. Overall, however, the plot had several nice twists and it kept you on the edge of your seat. There were a couple of times where I wondered when the hero didn't take much easier/ logical path to resolve a problem and his motivations were obscure for most of the time. It would have been nice to read more about what motivates him.
On the technical side, there were many (small) mistakes and the story could use an editor.
My appeal ended up at 'very good' (8) because of the great plot. The smut scenes were not very good and it would have been better to fade those to black.
Overall, this story is well worth the read if you like mind control stories. Pars001 had a new take on the genre and although there were some clichés, I found the story so exciting to read that I didn't put it down once I started reading.
