The title makes this sound like a stroke story. It's not. Nor is it a typical Lubrican story: there's no "Uncle Bob," (though our male protagonist IS named Bob; that much is as expected from Lubrican). The male and female protagonists are not related to each other. It's not a "blues" story. And, in fact, unlike many of Lubrican's tales, the story isn't about sex. Oh, there's lots of sex, but it happens along the way, it's not what the story is about. The story is about a professor who advertises for a research assistant, and whose only applicant is a cheerleader; unknown to him, she's already decided that he's "the one" for her. They find an old manuscript that may be of great historical value, and then go about proving it. They happen to fall in love along the way. That's what the story is really about.
IMHO, this is one of Lubrican's best stories. It has a good plot, the characters are relatable (not related), and you don't have to stretch disbelief to the breaking point. It's well-written.
Unfortunately, it's only available on SOL to premier members; if you're not one, I can't say that this story alone makes membership worth the price, but it certainly contributes to justification.
