This is an story about a man being considered for a promotion to a Vice Presidency at his company and the price that two members of his family, as well as himself, pay in order for him to get it. It held my attention from almost the first paragraph and didn't let go until the final one.
The weird thing about this story is that I wanted to be judgmental about some of the actions and decisions made by the protagonists. It is possible to go all huffy and condemn the actions of the male and female protagonists but I just couldn't do so in the end. Saying more could end up being a spoiler, so let it stay at that. I will add that it has more twists and turns than a mountain road. There were more than a few surprises. And that is what takes it out of the realm of the ordinary.
The story (read: plot) is a bit hackneyed but the author's treatment of it is refreshing. Technically, the story is good. No spelling or grammatical errors stand out in my mind. No homonymic/homophonic errors (one of my squicks) either.
In my opinion, this story is horribly underrated at 6.13 (as I write this). I'd peg it 1.50-1.75 points higher than that. My guess is that it is judged wanting by a lot of readers because it is in the Erotic genre, something this author specializes in. But in my mind that isn't a good reason for downgrading a good piece of writing.
Not very long, it can be read comfortably in one sitting and it is well worth the read.
