I am a big oyster50 fan, but it took me a while to get around to reading this story because I do not normally like it when infidelity is condoned. I much prefer when the unfaithful person gets burned, and the one who is cheated on rides away into the sunset with a new, faithful, love interest.
That being said, I have a lot of faith in Oyster50, so I finally gave his story a shot. Yes, infidelity took place and was not punished here (mostly), but there is much more to the story than that. The male protagonist, Lane, ends up in a very romantic relationship that has a lot of the same qualities that other oyster50 stories do. In other words, young very smart girl/older electrical engineer. Plenty of humor, as well.
Lane has an awful lot of baggage, however. Three divorces, and participation in the aforementioned infidelity. What develops between him and Lee, the young woman, is a tender romance that builds over a reasonable period of time. In other words, they don’t jump into bed in the second chapter. There are no thunderstorms, abusive mothers, or rescues from dangerous situations.
There are a few bumps along the way, and a little bit of drama near the end, but I won’t go into details. I prefer a story where there is a little drama and/or tension, because that makes things more interesting.
