Alias X: Favourites

1: Allison by Morgan
Morgan has her vision of the perfect woman and man. Perhaps Morgan's vision is a bit too specific; all Morgan's stories seem to have the same characters with different names. Still a copying your characters isn't too bad if you have characters that are fun to read about. The fact that her stories are all much the same does not mean they are not wildly entertaining.
2: Avatar: Establishment, Book 1 by Dark Pen
Excellent sci-fi BDSM stories, this author avoids the traditional issues of safety by giving the characters paranormal healing powers and others. The dommes always look after the happiness of the subs, never breaking limits. Though hardcore, there is no reluctance or humiliation to sour those concerned with nc. Entertaining plots and great characters.
3: Bodyguards by Shakes Peer2B
Hot female bodyguards who take sex rather than money as payment for services rendered. Fun and entertaining attacks and stories. Gradually approaches the paranormal somewhat. If squicked by herm, most of this authors work will not appeal.
4: The Gift by Volentrin
The main character intially has fun with his little ability, seeing into the past to satisfy curiousity and then to save a few lives. Once the government discovers how powerful his ability is (and they really have no idea!), he quickly finds himself quite close to be locked up as some sort of experiment. The government is not nice to this character at all.
5: Like Cats and Dogs by Mack the Knife
The world of Feldare is great stuff. Most of Mack's work focuses more on plot than this story, this story is interesting in that the entire story is about sex...but the sex is the plot.
6: Lucky Tickets by JiMC
Supposedly this is a mind control. I say supposedly because beyond some playing around in the first few chapters, the protagonist rarely uses mind control at all, mainly for ethical reasons. In reality, this is very much a coming of age story. The main character grows up rather quickly and those around him definitely take notice.
7: Melissa's Initiation by A Strange Geek
A Strange Geek writes some great stuff (some not on SOL). This one is about using power for revenge. An entertaining little story, those preferring a longer plot should consider his Narlass stories as well.
8: Once More With Feelings by The Night Hawk
The quintessential life do-over story, this tale avoids the common cliches of using foreknowledge of events to fix every mistake (although they do, of course, fudge sometimes). The two (!) characters, who have switched bodies and genders, know they screwed up before and are determined to live their life right this time. If you have not read this story yet, you should read it now.
9: The Orphanage Blues by Lubrican
Though enjoyable, B.O.B.'s stories mostly don't have enough plot for me to consider them special. However, his blues stories are generally an exception to this. Definitely the best of his work, this story stands out for its enticing plot and interesting characters.
10: A Perfect World by Al Steiner
As soon as I decided to add this to my favorites list, I was forced to read it again. It is just that good. Waking up from cryogenic freezing in a utopia by a great grand child on Mars...what's not to love? A bit political, but also has a plot. Steiner's other work is also good stuff.
11: Sales Team by Cat5
All of Cat5's stories (some not on SOL) are excellent romances and this is no exception.
12: Thunder and Lightening by Lazlo Zalezac
The story that introduced me to Lazlo, a big man suddenly and somewhat instantly decided to be a better person. The result is that his quality of life improves dramatically. This, despite the fact that he is living in the slums. Lazlo seems to enjoy creating humble heroes. It is worth a warning that those who read and enjoy one of Lazlo's stories should read all of them. If easily squicked, just ignore the MM tag (but not the stories) when you see it. As Lazlo's profile suggests, the MM mostly consists of a message to readers that MM is OK rather than to get people off.
13: Tim, The Teenage MC by Rass Senip
This story is LONG. Despite his age, the main character is a rather powerful MC. However, he is not nearly powerful enough to deal with the huge community of other MCers. Unhappy with the way most of the MCers tend to keep slaves, he can't do a thing about it and is frequently MCed himself. This guy finds and loses perfect love/friends. It's definitely not all roses in this story.
14: Twofer by Lazlong
This concept is interesting and well-done. Alas, it is way too short and you will likely be left wanting to read more. Read it anyways.
15: Undiscovered Countries by hammingbyrd7
The Undiscovered Countries trilogy is a rather interesting sci-fi story. As with many a few other Hammingbyrd7 stories, the main characters discover near-unlimited power. The characters tend to contemplate the ethics of fixing the world (even seeking world peace) rather than mindlessly having sex with everyone in site. Not very erotic but very entertaining.
