Worthy of re-reading...

Caveat:

We all have different tastes, so my choices and yours may be different.

I like variety, so my suggestions span many different themes.

I'll recommend some authors that I like. Most have a varied selection of tales, so you may have to pick and choose what fits your tastes.

Yes, many are for premium members only, but that should be incentive to help support SOL and Lazeez.

First is both stories by Geoff Wolak - https://storiesonline.net/a/gwresearch

I've just finished a re-read on both of these and they are as good this time around as they were a few years ago when I first read them.

Next is some of cmsix's tales. https://storiesonline.net/a/cmsix

Chessley Grogan has passed now, and many of his tales are left unfinished. But that's OK as many are light hearted farces that contain his unusual turn of phrase. How the cow ate the cabbage indeed!

Any of Al Steiner's tales are always good for a re-read. https://storiesonline.net/a/Al_Steiner

DotB - https://storiesonline.net/a/dotB always tells a good tale.

There are dozens more, but that should be enough to get a thread started.

What are your recommendations for authors and stories worthy of a re-read?

Al Steiner. Has several that I reread every couple of years. https://storiesonline.net/a/Al_Steiner "Doing it all over" being the stand out.

Alway's Rainings stories of working and middle class Englishmen overcoming the vissitudes of relationships are nice, no super powers, lone wolf cops, or other larger than life comic book heroes. https://storiesonline.net/a/Always_Raining "The Way Back" being my pick.

Andyhm is another British author writing long form stories about relationships from a very British male point of view. "The Woodworkers Wife" & the sequel "The Accountants Wife" get my vote.

https://storiesonline.net/a/andyhm

Argon covers a lot of settings and plot lines. Medieval Germany, Victorian England, Civil War USA, modern day fly over country & Hollywood. Men & women creating and building businesses, relationships and families. Gold mines, forestry, movies, law enforcement, porn, prostitution and organized crime. The one thing they have in common is good story telling and satisfying endings. Pelle the Collier is one of his least complicated stories, but easily read again.

https://storiesonline.net/a/argon

Bad Line Ghoul's Swarm Cycle stories are quirky fun. An anarchist joins the confederacy. The type that tries to organize his slaves into a labour union to protest the patriarchy... Don't expect high brow or stroke, just amusement.

Any of Jay Cantrell's works.

Ryan Sylander's Opus One and the Hook, Pick and Lens series.

@NC-Retired

Most of Lazlo Zalezac's work.

Pretty much anything by Don Lockwood.

Al Steiner - especially Aftermath and Doing it all Over.

Lazlong's Fountain of Youth and Wagons Ho series.

Deja Vu Ascendency

a few of John Wales' old stories (yeah, they really need editing. But if you can get past that...)

Wes Boyd's stories should be good for a reread.

Eddie Davidson 🚫

I second the recommendations of Jay Cantrell and Don Lockwood.

I also really like Mister NiceGuy's The Bitch and have reread what's been written there a couple of times. Really excited that he's updated it recently.

Oh, and I also have to mention A Friend in Need by Heathen57, as that's a great story I've come back to a couple of times!

Many of these are authors I reread often, a few are new to me so I will check them out,

Those stories I reread often and not yet mentioned include:

The Rivers Universe by Ernest Bywater along with others.

Colt45's Synergy for when I need a laugh.

Mack the Knife's Fedare Universe

Oz Ozzie's Australian Story and The Dragon's Backbone.

Now archived, Daghda Jim also has several.

Hammingbyrd7's The Preacher Man is story i have re-read at least a dozen times (so far). For me it is one of the most engaging and unique cultures I've come across in fiction.

Worthy of re-reading...

This has been visited several times in the Forum. The best discussion that I can find is here.

In it I posted my quite extensive list of stories that I reread on a regular basis. Being extensive, I won't repeat it as you can find it in the aforementioned post. A bunch that are already mentioned in this post are in it but it contains many others.

@Jim S

Yes Jim S, the general topic has been mentioned from time to time.

I noted that the link you referenced has posts that are about 4 years old.

Many new folks come along or old revisit. It is always interesting to see fresh recommendations.

Anomandaris 🚫

The Bec series by BarBar. Hmmmm, think I might do a full re-read of that next week.

Same caveat:

We all have different tastes, so my choices and yours may be different.

I like variety, so my suggestions span many different themes.

In my first post I mentioned authors starting at A. Today I'll recommend some authors starting from Z and working backwards.

Most have a varied selection of tales, so you may have to pick and choose what fits your tastes.

Yes, many are for premium members only, but that should be incentive to help support SOL and Lazeez.

Just three stories from Zoras. And the author has not been active recently. But I like the subjects and the style they are written in. https://storiesonline.net/a/Zoras

Woodmanone, with 84 stories. https://storiesonline.net/a/woodmanone

Wine Maker, with 7 stories. https://storiesonline.net/a/Wine_Maker

Warlord, 7 stories, many incomplete, but still containing some of the best SciFi on SOL. https://storiesonline.net/a/Warlord

I'm adding Vanessa Ravencroft to this recommended list even though I do not read her work. Why don't I read it? Logical style. Hers is not bad, just not pleasing to my mind. As always, you may not have my limitation and find her work attractive. https://storiesonline.net/a/vanessa-ravencroft

Voletrin, another magnificent author. You'll need a premium membership to access all his stories. IMO, worthy of supporting the site for their content alone. https://storiesonline.net/a/Volentrin

T-Rix for this one story alone. https://storiesonline.net/s/54551/toms-adventures

The Blind Man, 10 stories, several I'd rate as 10's. https://storiesonline.net/a/The_Blind_Man

The Night Hawk, just two, but both remarkable, more 10's! https://storiesonline.net/a/The_Night_Hawk

The Old Guy, 10 stories, again, as good as tall tales ever get! https://storiesonline.net/a/The_Old_Guy

Timm, another prolific SciFi author. https://storiesonline.net/a/Timm

That's it for today.

What are some of your favorites that are worthy of a re-read?
