The Way Back by Always Raining

Quasirandom 🚫

Another story I want to spotlight, though this one does get some notice in the forums: The Way Back by Always Raining. Content warning: it's an amnesia mystery story.

It's also a tightly written tale about the slow process of recovery and reconnecting. If you can't remember anything about either being attacked or your marriage, how much do you trust a spouse that has moved on? When all evidence points to her fiancΓ© but she insists he's innocent, what then?

Good stuff. I like a lot of Always Raining's works, though some feel a bit repetitive, but this is my clear standout. (Though if you're sick of amnesia mysteries, you may want to skip it.)

Always Raining is one of the Very British authors on SOL. Well worth reading.

Really liked that story, I read everything that Always Raining has written and wish for more or more British authors like them.

Thank you, I've read quite a few on your list. Still waiting for Marc Nobbs to write the third book in his series. Denham/Wanderer I accidentally angered when I questioned why the children in one of his stories had the same name. LOL, I still like his writing I just refrain from leaving comments on them these days.
I will happily look at the rest.

If you're compiling a list,

also counts. They only have 3 stories on SOL, though, and the last is incomplete and inactive.

I'm not sure if this is the same author who posted on asstr back in the 90s under the name "The Englishman," but that one had a signature tag along the lines of "colour, favour, neighbour, get used to it, I'm British".

@Quasirandom

I left out at least 20 authors, CRS is a real disease. Tedbiker is a good one. Add Smilodon to the list.
