Authors you'd like to see new stories from?

tendertouch 🚫

I'm not thinking of dead authors here, nor am I thinking of continuing existing stories (or even series). What authors would you like to see post new stories? I'm thinking I'd like to see something new from Sea-Life, Dilettante, EzzyB and WTSman. Maybe Lazlong as well though I doubt that will happen.

awnlee jawking 🚫

@tendertouch

BarBar, A.A. Nemo, Phil Brown, The Blind Man.

I've excluded writers like TechnicDragon, Lumpy and Stultus who have works currently in progress.

Awnlee, you hit it with those four! Add Tallorder64 and WTSman and I'd be content.

There is circumstantial evidence that Lazlong has been dead for over three years now, however much I'd like that to be wrong.
I'd add Zaliterr, Sacwriter and Brendan Buckley to that list of yours.
Don Lockwood probably has very good reasons to stay away, Michael Lindgren has definitely moved on.

Grant 🚫

Colt45, Oz Ozzie, Argon, Wine Maker, darat, porlock, expresso42, BarBar.

No idea if Colt45 is still around but that has been discussed here already.
Argon finished a story just over 6 months ago and it takes him a while to post a new one, patience.

I would like to add "Dual Writer" to this list. Although considering what he has reported in his Blog comments it looks unlikely due to his health problems.

I'll try not to repeat anyone.

For authors that haven't posted in a while: Refusenik, Joe J, MisguidedChild, Paul Phenomemon, wordytom and Shakes Peer2B.

For those that have posted recently (within the last two years): Colin Barrett, Al Steiner, SW MO Hermit and qhml1.

Jay Cantrell and Lazlo Zalezac currently have stories going.

ETA: I see Wheezer already mentioned Refusenik. Missed it. Refusenik, Jay, Lazlo and Al would always top my list of authors I'd like to see more of.

Yes, I have that site bookmarked. I keep checking for updates every couple of weeks or so and nothing new posted. Not complaining, as I know that real life really punched him hard. Still, I keep hoping that he will find a reason to get back to writing.

That's why authors should give their authors permission to post their works in progress if something should happen to them. My problem is, my editor turnover rate makes picking one who's likely to outlast me difficult. :(

But at least, if it's up to an editor, they can at least do the preliminary editing (but can't actually rewrite any confusing or incorrect passages, as it's not their work).

I consider it part of my work when I'm doing a full editing job, but not when I'm only proofreading. The hardest part is reproducing the original author's style so the corrections don't look out of place.

Normally, fitting corrections into the narrator's and/or characters jargon or speaking style is the author's responsibility, as they're the one most intimately familiar with the character, since they typically live inside their heads for years at a time.

When the author isn't around anymore, than any remaining editors who continue automatically switch from the role of editor to 'co-author', in which case it's considered legitimate to modify and change several aspects of the story to help combining the dual author voices that the story is being told in.

While I'll agree to the one's I've read and jot down the one's I haven't yet, my 2 that are missing are cmsix and ka hmnd, if nothing else just to get satisfaction that they are still among us. Oh, and for the great stories too, of course.

Just browsing some of the older Clitoride winners and it reminded me of a couple of authors who have been silent for some time but that did some good stuff when they were posting. I'd be happy to see new stories from either Strickland83 or scouries.

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to compile the list

Secondly, might it not be a good idea to post this list in a new thread with a suitable title so that this list is easier to find and of course could be updated in the future, if you are willing..??

Replies:   anim8ed

@joyR

I figured the reason for the question was to gain a list of authors that others liked and looked forward to new material. I compiled the thread for my own use and shared the resulting list of authors. There are a bunch I have not read myself that I will look at over the next few days.
I am not sure a separate thread is needed as the list really only applies to this thread. As to updating, that will depend on how much further the thread goes. If there are a number of additions I can always post an updated list.

Sacwriter [No page found]

This has previously been discussed on the Forum. There are some archived sites with some of his stories using the wayback machine. Also if it is not site friendly to mention it, Gina's Beyond the Far Horizon site has four stories by Sacwriter posted about 2006.

The stories are not unavailable, it just takes a little work off SOL.
