Wholesome stories

roman_wajdenfeler ๐Ÿšซ

Hi, I'm in desperate need of some wholesome/feel good stories but with a small caveat of helping the other person in a bad or dire situation. Or just simply having bad luck in life

What I mean by that? For example:
-handicapped or with disabilities, blind, deaf etc.
-fat, depressed, with low esteem or just simply extremely shy. You know, drawing out inner beauty, and all that jazz
-victims of SA or any other similar traumas
-bullying
-homeless people, addicts of any sorts, sex workers, people going through harsh divorce etc.
-slavery? Helping out slaves, ending, or trying to stop, slavery or human trafficking in real, historical, alternate, fictional, fantasy etc. world.

To put it simply - being a decent human being. Helping the ones in need. Stories that instill some hope in us. Longer read or simple short ones, doesn't matter. Preferably involving romance of any sort (heterosexual) - polygamous/monogamous/harem. Taboos are fine too. As long as they're wholesome I'm open to any suggestions. All help is sincerely welcome.

And may your day be better :) stay strong y'all

Hey, thank you for help, that's exactly the kind of stories I'm looking for - I tried some of them, they had their moments but unfortunately the writing is simply subpar for my liking. Gonna keep looking

Thanks anyway

-fat, depressed, with low esteem or just simply extremely shy. You know, drawing out inner beauty, and all that jazz
-bullying

The First Timers Club deals with these issues.

A flawed and troubled man agrees to teach 4 bullied high school friends how to overcome their fears, self-doubt, and inhibitions, helping them to realize their potential and become strong, confident young women. Along the way, they teach him the meaning of true friendship and forgiveness.

What could be more wholesome than 'The George Stories' โ€” a collection from WTSman?

(And almost impossible to find, too, when all I could remember was that the collection had 'George' in the name.)

I've always liked The Millionaire Next Door by Lazlo Zalezac as a "feel good" story. I'd say it was "wholesome" as well :D

Wholesome stories

Wholesome stories are excellent value because you get a whole story and then some :-)

How about Almost Like a Song โ€” a series by Heathen57? Wolf Creek Pass is the first one. Also, A Friend in Need by the same author.

Don Lockwood has some stories I would consider in this category as well.

The late Wes Boyd has quite a few about decent people, some of them here, some on his site.

Dual Writer's stories often start with one person helping others, but his series tend to eventually go over the top. Start with Vacation? (first of of the Steve series) and Job Hunt (start of the Chuck series in the same Florida Friends Universe). Recluse and Ghost is a standalone.

Oyster50 has a number of stories that start with the (usually adult MC) helping a younger but very capable girl. Generally with a good ending.

Aaron Stone's American Teen has multiple people being abused or discriminated against. It also has a hero, though.

black_coffee's Twice as Much has a set of twins with an unusual handicap, and someone who can look beyond it.

Boondock's Mail Order Bride has a rescue (or two?) from prositution. Sadly, unfinished at this time.

Cat5's I Won't Hurry You includes rescuing a hostage. His Sales Team is about the rescue of a woman on her last legs.

Don Lockwood's Samantha's Secret deals with helping a girl who has been ostracized for years.

dotB's Aftershock deals with rescues both physical and emotional. Might not be 'feel good' enough for you, though.

EzzyB's Rebecca Danced deals with someone who has been handicapped all her life, as well as helping others in need. The sequel, Anita's Rescue deals with multiple rescue situations.

Lumpy's Destiny's Road starts off with a rescue from attempted sexual assault.

Renpet's Bianca and the Amnesiac is about the rescue of a kidnapping victim.

A major subplot of my Protective Coloration is the emotional rescue of a rape victim. That's also what drives the plot of Charley and Claire.

Wes Boyd's Snowplow Extra is about rescuing an entire town from multiple issues. It also involves rescuing on particular lovely lady.

Lo and behold, 'Sales Team' is currently the Random Story.

It's a sign from the Gods - "You need to read this story." :-)

Many of the stories of Jay Cantrell are "wholesome feel-good stories" and they are well written.

Jay stopped posting during the Covid-19 Lockdowns; however, he is comparatively young; hopefully he will return.

He has more than two-dozen completed stories, and several in progress.

His stories are rather diverse.

I think you might particularly enjoy Daze in the Valley.

Ernest Bywater was a prolific writer who posted dozens of stories here (at least 70). Most of them are "Wholesome Feel-Good" stories.

If you PM me, I will suggest my Favorite "Feel-Good" story of his. Warning, if you read it first, it will be hard for others to measure up. Also, I will be very busy until after Veterans Day, November 11th.

There is a powerful story. Protect and Serve.

It definitely has some wholesome aspects, and also "feel-good" elements. Ultimately it is a story that, I believe, meets your criteria. However, it has some violence and death too. I recommend it, but you might not enjoy some aspects.

Heya, thanks you lovely people for all the suggestions, tried some of them, re-read some of the classics like Eight Mile or Charity Begins ND (dunno how many times that makes it :P) and still have tons of bookmarks saved! Starting today I have more free time on my hands so I certainly will try to read as many suggestions as I can. What a great trouble to have!

At the same time I have to recommend all of ya a truly wonderful story that basically inspired me to make this post

One way to Graduate by cafterhomme

Disabled girl finds unexpected love at the graduation party! It's not on SOL, but you can read the story for free on authors site (address is basically their pen name).
Tbh I don't know if it's okay to recommend stories not posted on SOL, but I genuinely don't think I'll ever find a lovelier story than this one, so can't help but to share it with all of ya :)

Stay safe!

I would tend to say my own Variation on a Theme series fits, though it's a very long story and so the impact is perhaps diluted.

That said, it's a do-over where the premise, from the start, is that the main character wants his second chance to mean something in terms of both self-improvement and world improvement. There are many lives touched in various ways as the story continues, and the goal of 'make the world a better place' becomes more and more entrenched.

In progress, a very gentle do-over story so far.
