This has been sitting heavily with me for a few days. I only knew Starfleet Carl through SOL, but like NC-Retired, I'm going to miss his presence. How would people feel about having a, um... call it a "virtual wake"? We could start a thread for remembering him and people could share something they appreciated from him. Maybe a story of some encouragement he sent in a private message. Maybe a favorite passage from one of his stories. Or maybe a comment from these forums that you thought particularly funny, uplifting, or insightful. Any interest?
This looks like what this one will be.
I liked his whimsy, both in his stories and the different posts in the forum.
What a bummer. I have communicated with him a few times, but have enjoyed his stories, and forum/blog postings.
Will miss him. Sympathies to his family and friends.
This is a shock. Like many others, I only knew him through SoL, but he was a strong voice and quite a storyteller, and I enjoyed discussing things with him.
Sympathies to all of those who were close to him.
I'm so glad he got the satisfaction of finishing his A True History series. I think it's a superb example of Over the Top storytelling, and since his son has undertaken to finish posting, I'm looking forward to binging the final book. I mean, really, a super-powered guy playing college football? Wacky. And fun. And don't get me started on the craziness he allowed with regard to the harem or conspiracy elements. All just so fun.
Learning of his passing is a shock. I'll feel the loss for a while.
Can any of you tell me how to contact Carl's Son who goes by the name "The Firedrake" ???
Thanks,
Dennis
Carl's email linked to his author account on SCIFI Stories still has active email. Firedrake responds.
You may want to mention that reactivating Carl's email on SOL would make it simpler for his SOL readers to contact him.
I had a good start on a story about Bocas Del Toro in Panama, but I got bogged down and gave it to Carl to see if he could get it going again. Note that I said I gave him the story along with a couple more. If his son Firedrake chooses to let me have them, I will try very hard to finish them.
More bad news: The last activity in Monbade's account or blog on SOL was in Aug 2020. Nor do I remember any other announcements of his status.
I was rereading one of his FFN stories Oh Hell No!, then went into his homepage, to find the following from his niece ..
On August 26th, 2022, monbade passed away. I am his neice, and knowing how much his writing meant to him I am going to leave his stories up for people to read, but please understand that while reviews are always appreciated, there will be no responses.
Thank you to everyone who has ever read and reviewed, I know my uncle made many friends through his writing.
Due to this being the possible only time I will have access to his account as his laptop isn't in the best condition, this will be the only update I will put on his account.
RIP Monbade!

Nor do I remember any other announcements of his status.
ReaderInfo added Monbade to its listing of inactive contributors in September 2022 with a status of In Memoriam.
I just checked his author's account and found Lazeez's message about his passing. I did not see the message from his niece. Where did you find it?
It was in his FFN page - https://www.fanfiction.net/u/2301688/monbade . Updated Sep. 15, 2022.
Per Lazeez pref, no active link provided.
Update - didn't think I was providing an active link ...

This will take you to Monbades actual site where all his stories are kept there are a lot more then what is on FanFic.
Including the unfinished book 4 of his Destroyer Series of which books 1-3 are here on SOL.

How does one register on that site?
The verification questions seem like a practical joke. I'm sure of my answers and yet kept getting 'incorrect'.
Does anyone have the unfinished Monbade Destroyer series Book #4?
edited: added clarification
Book 4 of A True History is posted in its entirety.
If that is not what you want, which author and story.

This thread changed to Monbade and his unfinished book 4 of the Destroyer series, so I guess he asks for this.
HM.
You are probably right.
He referenced NC-Retired's original post. If he wanted Monbade's book, I would have expected him to reference that post or at least identify the Book he was interested in.
Yeah, sorry, I am not sure after a day what I pressed, so can't tell if it is a bug or my fault, the post about Monbade's Destroyer series book #4 was definitely on the screen and I thought that is what I am replying to.
I am interested in the Destroyer book #4.
Sorry for the confusion.
FYI, if you click the @xyz name in a poster's post, you are taken to the post the poster was responding to.
Yeah, I understand the behaviour of the page, but you have to account for me being half asleep :-)

I've seen this happen to other posters too.
If the post you want to reply is the last at the bottom, it's easy to click on "Reply to topic" below the post instead of the arrow icon within the post.
"Reply to topic" creates an answer to the original first post of the topic.
